As part of the NCD Policy Lab Project, on November 5, 2024, the round table: “Leveraging Data-Driven Evidence to Inform Policy Decisions on Diabetes in Kyrgyzstan” was held at Orion Hotel in Bishkek. Representatives of SDC, WHO, MoH of the KR, MHIF, E-Health Center, CHSD&MT, KSMA, experts from the University of Geneva and others took part in the event. During panel sessions health indicator analysis, data availability and efficient use of resources in PHC were discussed, as well as challenges and opportunities for utilizing data/evidence in policymaking regarding NCDs, particularly diabetes. Based on the outcomes of this event it was decided that there is a need to assess the opportunities and barriers for utilizing data related to diabetes, as well as the support to creating  the research planning mechanisms, various formats and tools for dissemination and utilization of research findings, as well as capacity-building and involvement of all stakeholders in the this process, that will eventually extend the proven model of evidence-based policy decision-making to other NCDs and other health priorities.
